More, from a press release issued by Rojo Racing:
Jason Perez had another successful weekend at Willow Springs winning all five classes he entered. Perez finished first in both 600 Superstock and 600 Superbike races abord his Yamaha R6. “My R6 ran really good and the handling issues were cleared up, until the wind picked up” stated Jason.
The Rojo Racing Yamaha R1 ran well too, taking Perez to the front of the pack in Open Superstock, Open Superbike, and the premier Formula One race. GP Suspension helped get the bike dialed in over the very warm weekend. Dave from GP also helped as mechanic since Jason’s normal mechanic John Rock was injured in a wakeboarding accident.
Jason and crew will be heading out to VIR and Road Atlanta to contest the last two rounds of the AMA series. Perez said he is looking forward to some good results now that his physical conditioning is the best it’s been all year.
More, from a press release issued by Team Miramar Motorsports/Advanced Kawasaki:
Team Miramar Motorsports/Advanced Kawasaki had an early end to their weekend at the WSMC races at Willow Springs this weekend. After showing a promising start to a challenging set of circumstances rider Helmut Kohler Jr. crashed out of second place in the 20 lap Solo GTU race on Saturday evening.
The Southern California native rider got off to a measured start in the GTU race going into turn one in fourth place. Lap two saw Kohler move into third place with an outbraking pass on Stan Bates going into turn 3. Helmut immediately gapped Bates and set off after the two leaders David Siminski (Team Cobra Racing Kawasaki) and teammate Ryan Hoffman (Advanced Kawasaki). On lap three Siminski ran off track going into turn three and #154 Kohler began a charge trying to pull in the 20 bike length gap to leader Hoffman. Lap four was the end of the line as Helmut lost the front and low-sided in the ultra fast turn 8 trying to close in on the leader, he had this to say:
“It’s a very disappointing end to our weekend as this was our first month out with the new Kawasaki ZX-6RR being 100% finished. The past two months we have just been testing really while waiting on several new components for the bike. We got off to a rocky start when our Bridgestone tire distributor didn’t show up and we have done all of our setup and testing with Bridgestone tires. That necessitated a switch and we put on a set of Michelin’s and I appreciate Racer’s Edge helping us out at the last minute but the tires just didn’t provide the grip we are used too at least with our current setup. The bike was still really fast, I got an average start but made my way to third pretty quick and then when I saw Siminksi go off in three I started pushing really hard to reel in Ryan. On the fourth lap I got a great run down the back stretch and was trying to go through turn 8 full throttle but the bike pushed wide on entry and when I got into the bumpy stuff I rolled off to pull back down to the preferred line and that loaded up the front and it just washed out. Luckily we were able to walk away from it and we will get the bike fixed and be back stronger for the September round. It’s a real shame as I was really looking to capitalize on the double points on Sunday but that’s racing. I also have to really thank Kevin Jump from Advanced Kawasaki for all of the help and support.”
Look for Team Miramar Motorsports/Advanced Kawasaki to be making appearances at local Southern California Bike Nights in the near future. When the dates are finalized a press release will follow details.
