Aaron Bell (Suz GSX-R1000), 1:40.183 More, from a press release issued by Pirelli: Pirelli Fastest at Road Atlanta in AMA Superbike Series Rome, GA: Blake Young flung down the fastest flying lap around the undulating red-clay hills of the Road Atlanta race course, located in the postal district of Braselton, Georgia, for all 1000cc Superstock bikes. He did this fastest lap while riding his M4 EMGO Suzuki GSX-R1000 during Friday’s AMA Superstock practice. Piloting the fastest Suzuki of all, and the fastest bike of all, in first practice for the AMA Superstock class at Road Atlanta, Young set the final pace ahead of a field of 26 of America’s best riders, with a time of 1:26.094, putting him a solid 2-tenths of a second ahead of the next fastest rider, Team Jordan’s Aaron Yates. Other Pirelli riders setting fast times in Superstock with their Pirelli Diablo Superbike Slicks include Robertino Pietri with the fifth-best time of the session on his Roadracingworld.com Suzuki, Ryan Elleby with the eighth most excellent excursion around the 2.55-mile course, and Scott Jensen was tenth fastest on his Moto-garage.com Suzuki, on this nebulously numbered circuit of around 12 turns, or so. It was the front row earned in final qualifying for Saturday’s Formula Xtreme (FX) final, by Pirelli riders and Attack Kawasaki teammates Steve Rapp and Chaz Davies, on a pair of ZX-6Rs; Rapp was third fastest while Davies was fourth. Taking a full half of the FX second row were riders Martin Cardenas of the M4 EMGO Suzuki team, with the inside space earned with the fifth-fastest time, and Larry Pegram on his Leo Vince/Foremost Insurance Ducati 848 meriting the seventh spot. In total, Pirelli has wholly half of the two front rows for Saturday’s FX race. Rapp said, “The team did a great job trying out a number of new things during qualifying, planning more for the race than just for one great lap. So we feel good about tomorrow. We’ve done well here before and we keep getting faster so we’re ready to race.” Pirelli Tire North America specializes in the manufacture and marketing of high-performance tires for passenger vehicles, motorcycles and motorsports.
