Jacobsen Back on the Dirt DuQuoin State Fairgrounds DuQuoin, Illinois July 1 Celtic Racing’s young phenom PJ Jacobsen, 2006 USGPRU Champion started out his career as a flat tracker. Several years and championships later PJ then switched to Road Racing. Sunday, he was back at the AMA Amateur Flat Track Grand Championships. Always wanting to pitch it sideways at the prestigious Mile. Has he traded the asphalt for dirt? Not likely. Jacobsen has no plans of being a professional Flat Tracker. His goals still remain the same climbing and inching his way to MotoGP with the best of the best. An off week for Jacobsen in the USGPRU series, he wanted to revisit his roots and support the sport that has been good to him for many years. Holding over 25 AMA Grand Championship titles, PJ thought why not have a go at it. A freshly prepared Honda, a new set of leathers and a trip to Illinois was a perfect combination for PJ. Seeing his old buddies at the Nationals while dicing it up in the corners makes for a fun week. Jacobsen, no stranger at the Grand Championships, had won every title in the youth classes. This year, PJ felt he had something to prove, and once again pulled off two wins this time on the big bikes. PJ would like very much to compete in both disciplines full time ( Flat Track and Road Racing). As a 4 year old he thought ” When I grow up I am going to be a motorcycle racer” ( an interview on Nickelodeon TV, based on the Art of Flat Track racing). Well at his prime age of 13 he is living his dream. When his schedule allows you can find him flat trackin’ in Middletown Indoors Winter Series and the prestigious AMA Amateur Grand Championships. Jacobsen’s “Back on the Dirt” venue was made possible by longtime sponsor Moroney’s Harley – Davidson, Rich Hanson, Hot Shoes by George, She Loves Racing, Shoei, Alpinestars, Weiss Racing, and Dunlop. Jacobsen heads to Road America this weekend, currently first in points. ” I am having a great time at the Flat Track Nationals, but need to get back to business and defend my championship. It was great to see all my flat track friends, the kids I grew up with at the track. We are all a bit older now, on bigger bikes but still competitive banging it in the turns. It’s a great feeling”, notes Jacobsen.
