This weekend at Barber Motorsports Park, VETMotorsports will be partnering with AMA Pro Road Racing teams to embed injured combat veterans as pit crew members. VETMotorsports is a central-Ohio based non-profit that places post 9/11 injured combat veterans behind the wheel in sanctioned autocross events or embeds them as pit crew members in pro racing teams. VETMotorsports overall mission is to provide this generation of wounded veterans a unique and powerful non-clinical outreach program in motor sports. The program just recently completed a one-day car outreach event in Toledo, Ohio. On Sunday evening VETMotorsports will immediately travel to Colorado Springs for a weeklong outreach and assist Ducati’s efforts at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
“VETMotorsports is looking forward to returning to Barber Motorsports Park with AMA Pro Road Racing this weekend. We had a wait-list from last year, and while were able to accommodate almost everyone that wanted to attend, the need to engage injured veterans is ongoing. With the recent events in Iraq, this weekend’s opportunity to engage local veterans could not have come at a better time. We’ll have some combat tested Army and Marine veterans embedded within two Vance&Hines Harley-Davidson Series teams, and with the D&D Cycles Triumph team in Daytona SportBike. As always VETMotorsports appreciates the opportunity from the teams and AMA Pro Racing to embed the veterans and give them a hands-on, team building experience,” stated VETMotorsports Executive Director and Founder Peter Cline.
