We wondered how long it would take a kid to adapt to the twist-grip throttle on a StaCyc 16-inch electric bike and recruited Nicholas Duffy, age 6. He had ridden a pedal bicycle and a small four-wheel ATV with a thumb throttle, but had not ridden a powered two-wheeler with a twist-grip throttle. But Nicholas did great, starting with the StaCyc in its lowest power setting and working through the middle power setting and up to full power in about 40 minutes. He rode the bike for another 20 minutes before the battery needed a recharge–and he obviously had a good time.
