Meet and mingle with ASBK and V8 heroes at Phillip Island Motorsport fans will get the chance to meet and greet with leading Viking Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) riders in the lead-up to and during this week’s L&H 500 Phillip Island event, the penultimate round on the 2010 calendar. Superbike and Supersport contenders will face off for championship points with a race each on Saturday and Sunday, but festivities will kick off early in the township of Cowes with an exclusive autograph signing involving two and four-wheel heroes. The iconic Pino’s Trattoria (Thompson Avenue) will host the free event from 5.00-6.00pm on Thursday September 9. With the ASBK set to receive significant television airplay with live race action on Saturday and Sunday, the session will give racegoers a chance to meet face-to-face with the riders that will dice and duel at over 300km/h around the fast-flowing Grand Prix circuit. Campground, grandstand and L&H group ticket holders will have the opportunity to attend an exclusive event with ASBK riders as well as V8 Supercar, V8 Ute and Mini Challenge drivers to be held on Saturday September 11. Hosted inside the Island Pavilion at the circuit from 5.30pm, the event will feature a series of rider and driver interviews and allow fans to chat and grab an autograph with their heroes. A BBQ and drinks will follow the formalities and a performance from Jason Singh, lead singer of Taxi Ride, will round out what is set to be an entertaining and insightful evening. Event tickets are available online at ticketek.com.au. Fans wishing to secure a camping spot should contact the Phillip Island Circuit on 1300 728 007 or visit www.phillipislandcircuit.com.au. A list of camping FAQ’s can be found on the V8 Supercar event website. On-track, an intense battle for control of the Superbike championship will resume. Honda riders Bryan Staring and Wayne Maxwell look set to continue their season-long arm wrestle, while Glenn Allerton, Jamie Stauffer and Josh Waters, amongst others, are all aiming to be in the mix. In the Supersport class it looks set to be another close competition between the likes of Troy Herfoss, Christian Casella and Brodie Waters. Visit asbk.com.au for further series information.
