CCS Florida Homestead-Miami Speedway May 1, 2011 Santiago Villa won six of his ten races at Homestead-Miami Speedway, making him the winningest racer of the day. He finished second to Stefano Mesa in the other four races. Mesa was the second winningest racer of the day with five first place finishes and a near clean sweep with one second place finish, behind Villa. Villa set the pace for the day with his first victory in the GTO race. He nailed early leads in all of his races and was challenged by Mesa in all of the classes they competed against each other. The two battled each other throughout the day, frequently swapping positions, constantly challenging each other for the lead. At the end of the day, Villa was out front again at the start of the Unlimited Grand Prix race with Mesa close behind and Jeff Lampe in third. But, by lap two, Lampe had maneuvered his Kissimmee Motorsports ZX10 around Mesa’s Ducati Miami/Desmomaniacs 848 EVO, and was chasing Villa’s Prieto Performance GSX-R1000. With second and third closing in, Villa continued to push the pace, and the top three began to break away from the rest of the field. And, even though second and third were closing in on him, Villa was able to maintain his advantage all the way to the checkered flag, taking his final victory of the day, and his second ever Unlimited Grand Prix victory. Villa also won the Unlimited Supersport, Heavyweight Supersport, Heavyweight Superbike, and Middleweight Grand Prix classes. He finished second in the GTU, Middleweight Supersport, Unlimited Superbike, and Middleweight Superbike races. Mesa won the GTU, Middleweight Supersport, Unlimited Superbike, Supertwins, and Middleweight Superbike races. Lampe also finished second in the GTO race, and third in Unlimited Superbike. RESULTS: UNLIMITED GRAND PRIX: 1. Santiago Villa (Suz GSX-R1000); 2. Jeff Lampe (Kaw ZX-10R); 3. Stefano Mesa (Duc 848EVO); 4. Joe Schweigart (Suz GSX-R1000); 5. Barrett Long (Duc 848EVO); 6. Danny Crocker (Yam YZF-R1).
