FREE ADMISSION! The VRRA (Vintage Road Racing Association) is gearing up for the 2013 season of vintage and classic motorcycle racing. The first round is set for Shannonville Motorsport Park’s Pro Track May 31-June 2, and features FREE spectator admission on the feature day, Sunday June 2. The weekend offers a full complement of qualifying and final races for motorcycles and sidecars, including a two-hour endurance race and a rider’s school for new members on Friday. Sunday’s events include final races with motorcycles from the 1950s to the early 1990s, plus the sidecar finals. The highlight completing the day will be the new Grand Prix motorcycle racing class. Added features include Try The Track Saturday and Sunday, with proceeds supporting Big Brothers and Big Sisters. On Saturday you can take the ride of your life as a racing sidecar passenger (the monkey) for $20. Participants must have full leathers (can be borrowed) gloves, helmet, and suitable footwear. Racers will provide instruction. And on both days, riders with their own street bikes can register for Try the Track and ride the track for 20 minutes for $20 during lunch break periods. All riders must wear a helmet, gloves, boots, sturdy jacket and preferably riding pants. All bikes must be inspected and approved at VRRA Tech inspection. The VRRA souvenir booth will have event T shirts, and lots of VRRA memorabilia. The VRRA is the only motorcycle association in Canada devoted solely to classic and vintage road racing, and the oldest such organization in North America. Members range from casual racers to highly-competitive Pro racers who still like to exercise their competitive talents in a more relaxed atmosphere.
