Walker continues his winning streak at SMRI round 3 In spite of the triple digit temps Kelcey Walker held on to his undefeated streak with 3 wins for 3 starts. Walker struggled all day with suspension issues and bad starts, but he still managed to pull of wins with more than a 10 second gap over second place. With Walker just dominating the competition the best battles were left to 3rd through 5th place. In ULGP, Dave Dikitolia 2nd and Joe Ackley 3rd were dicing it in every corner until Ackley’s throttle stuck open, this caused him to run off the track giving 3rd place up to Terry Kraus. More great battles happened later in the afternoon heat, like the one in the Am GTU class with Eric Cooper taking the win over Daryl Wichern, 2nd and Donny Ellsworth 3rd the se 3 racer swapping positions and paint right up to the last corner. AmO even though it was the last class of the day, it keep people on the edge of their seats. All the riders were unwilling to give into the heat, as they pulled out the stops and give it their all. Eric Cooper and Donny Ellsworth again continued to dice it up until the last corner, this time allowing Daryl Wichern to run away from them. SMRI would like to thank all of its generous sponsors, Corner workers, support staff and racers for coming out to support the club. The SMRI returns to Napa Speedway in Albuquerque July 14th for a Track day, these are open to anyone interested in learning how to go faster in a safe environment The next race will be held on July 15th and conducted in the clockwise direction on the Standard Configuration. Gate fee is $5 for Sunday and Saturday is free for all.
