WERA Motorcycle Roadracing Inc. has been forced to cancel its Lucas Oil WERA West Sportsman Series race event scheduled January 23 at Auto Club Speedway, in Fontana, California, due to the organization’s leaders contracting COVID-19.

WERA CEO Evelyne Clarke told Roadracingworld.com that she has been suffering symptoms of a breakthrough case of COVID-19, and just as she started to feel a little bit better, her husband and Operations Manager Sean Clarke caught COVID-19.

This obviously left them unable to travel from their base in Georgia to California, and without anyone else available to run their timing and scoring computer system, WERA was forced to cancel the event.

Evelyne Clarke said she was “devastated” to have to cancel.

The Fastrack Riders track days and coaching days scheduled January 21-22 at Auto Club Speedway will go on as planned.
