WERA National Series Back in Action at Miller Motorsports Park TOOELE, Utah With no forest fires to stop them this time, the WERA National Series will be back on track this weekend for round three at Utah’s Miller Motorsports Park. The Western round of the series will feature the WERA/Bridgestone National Endurance Series and the WERA/Michelin National Challenge Series, as well as the WERA West Pirelli Sportsman Series. The series had a longer than expected break between rounds, with the forest fires in North Florida forcing the postponement of Jennings GP, which was originally scheduled as round three. That race has now been moved to the weekend of September 28-30, and racers are heading to the desert of Utah instead. After practice and qualifying on Friday, the racing gets started on Saturday, June 16 with the six-hour National Endurance Series event, which gets the green flag at 11:30 a.m. Vesrah Suzuki would like to make their win record three for three this season, but they can expect to face stiff competition from the local teams again this year. During last season’s endurance round at Miller, Rave Yamaha proved they had the home track advantage with an overall win. With five classes competing in the endurance series, there will be plenty of opportunities for local teams to claim victory during Saturday’s long race. Sunday will feature the National Challenge Series sprint races, and racers will have just four laps around the long Miller track to get to the front. Like the endurance series, WERA West racers dominated the sprints last year. In fact, local racers accounted for half of the wins during last year’s inaugural event at Miller. In the expert ranks, Clint McBain, Robert Jensen and Lee Acree will be some of the top names to watch. Up-and-comer McBain has been racing elbow-to-elbow with the veterans of the sport this season, and the three competitors had some hard-fought battles during round two at Barber Motorsports Park. Spectator tickets for the WERA National Series at Miller Motorsports Park are just $10 per day. Riders and crew pay $30 for the entire three days, or $20 for Saturday and Sunday. Directions to Miller and more information about the track can be found online at www.MillerMotorsportsPark.com.
