TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH (June 5, 2008) Hot on the heels of last weekend’s successful HANNspree Superbike World Championship® StriVectin-SD® USA Round and Honda Summit of Speed AMA Superbike Championship events, the two-wheeled action at Miller Motorsports Park continues this weekend. The WERA National Series returns to Utah this weekend, June 6-8, for its fourth round of the season. WERA is the largest non-professional motorcycle racing club in America and will attract upward of 200 of the country’s most promising up-and-coming riders. The weekend will feature the Bridgestone/WERA National Endurance Series and the Michelin/WERA National Challenge Series, as well as the Pirelli/WERA West Regional Series. After practice and qualifying on Friday, the racing gets started on Saturday with the six-hour National Endurance Series event, which will take the green flag at 11:30 a.m. Vesrah Suzuki won last year’s enduro on a Suzuki GSX-R1000, but the team has had to contend with Brand X and Wikle Racing this year and the weekend could see new faces on the podium. Team Velocity Racing is also a steady force on their Yamaha YZF-R1. Sunday will feature the National Challenge Series sprint races, and racers will have just four laps around the long 3.048-mile Outer Course to get to the front. Last year, the sprint races were dominated by AMA Pro Racing privateers who were preparing for AMA Honda Summit of Speed. The schedule has been juggled this year to place the AMA event ahead of WERA, so expect to see the WERA regulars at the top of the timing charts once again. Robert Jensen, John Jacobi, Josh Day, Dane Westby and Payton Sassaman have been the front-runners this season, and they’re all hoping that their trip to Utah will result in more top results. Admission for spectators is free on Friday, and tickets for Saturday and Sunday are just $5 per day. Kids 12 and under are free. The weekend will also include Round 2 of the Rodizio Grill Karting Championship presented by Valvoline, which will take place on Saturday at the Miller Kart Track. More information about WERA, including a detailed schedule for the weekend, can be found at www.WERA.com.
