DANIEL “DANGER” COSTILLA JOINS CRESSWELL RACING TO RIDE BSB MOTOSTAR IN 2013
February 14, 2013–Thirteen-year-old Daniel “Danger” Costilla joins Cresswell Racing this season to compete in the British Superbike 2013 Monster Energy Motostar Championship.
OnTheThrottle.TV recently spoke with Costilla about his move to the BSB series. “I still can’t believe I will be leaving for England in a few days,” says Costilla, “I’m so grateful to Cresswell Racing for this opportunity!”
Costilla, who began his racing career with M1GP in Southern California, will join riders Jayson Uribe and Ricky Tarren to complete Cresswell Racing’s 2013 team.
The team will compete in the BSB Motostar series with two 2004 RS 125 Hondas, prepared by Ian Emberton of IAN-E Racing, and a KTM RC125, prepared by Redline KTM from Loughborough, Leicestershire.
“Daniel will be competing in all 12 BSB Motostar 125/Moto3 Championship rounds sponsored by Monster Energy in 2013 at all UK premier circuits including Brands Hatch, Silverstone and our team’s home round of Donington Park,” explains John Cresswell, Team Manager.
Last year, Costilla competed in the US WERA West Series, where he honed his skills in the Honda 80 and Honda 125 classes. This year, he joins Cresswell Racing, a move he hopes puts him one-step closer to his ultimate goal — racing MotoGP.
Costilla was discovered, of all places, on Facebook. “I put word out on Facebook and was given Daniel’s name. I did a bit of research on Daniel through various sources, then contacted Daniel and told him about the ride available. That’s how we have come to today’s present situation,” says Cresswell.
