SHAKE ’EM ON DOWN: YAMALUBE/WESTBY RACING COMPLETE FINAL PRE-DAYTONA TEST

Jennings, FL – Dane Westby and Yamalube/Westby Racing spent two days at Jennings GP on Sunday and Monday in a final preparation for this weekend’s Daytona 200. Westby and the team were able to review the squad’s Yamaha YZF-R6 at a track setting before undertaking Saturday’s 200-mile race at Daytona International Speedway.

“The test was great. The bike felt super immediately,” said Westby, who was able to scrap with several AMA Pro regulars at Jennings. “We were able to accomplish everything we wanted. It was good to be back with my own team and to see all the work they have done over the winter. There’s a really nice vibe around the team, and I don’t think there’s any negatives. The bike performed excellently.”

Westby, with a best career result of second place in the 2010 Daytona 200, is optimistic of his chances this weekend on the gold, black and red Yamalube machine. “I’m looking forward to Daytona and know we’re capable of going for a good result on the Yamalube/Westby Racing Yamaha YZF-R6. I’m trying to stay cool after I got a little cocky and had a bad race last year. We’re taking it play-by-play and this test went very well.”

Yamalube/Westby Racing is prepared for the new AMA Pro one-bike rule, as well as the pit stops required for the Daytona 200.

“It’s great to be out and testing the Yamalube/Westby Racing Yamaha R6 after a long winter of hard work,” said crew chief Jerry Daggett. “The crew worked to make sure everything was organized, and we also made sure Dane is comfortable on the bike before we head down to the beach. I’m very pleased with the results and we’re ready to go on to Daytona.”
