Great Lakes Mini-Motard Racing Series Set to Launch Second Season (And They’re Giving Away a 50!) As the cold weather approaches, the Great Lakes Mini-Motard Racing Series (GLMMRS) will heat up with its first event of the season this upcoming weekend in Sterling Heights, Michigan. The inaugural run of GLMMRS comes off a hugely successful season, and the upcoming season promises bigger events, closer racing, and even bigger prizes. The first event will be held on October 9th at Kart 2 Kart (www.kart2kart.com); an indoor karting facility conveniently located in Michigan. Based on the hugely popular Honda CRF-50, GLMMRS will be running 3 spec-classes featuring these bikes in an 8-round, 24-race series for bragging rights, big championship trophies and even racing for a good cause. The series is again headlined with the Honda East (www.hondaeasttoledo.com) 88-Extreme class; the premiere class in the series. A full lineup of evenly matched, spec-raced 88cc CRF-50’s going head to head against each other. Not to be outdone, the Magic Racing (www.magicracingmx.com) 50cc Superstock class has brought out some of the biggest turnouts and brings close racing to a new level. Along with these two spec-classes is the Classic Honda (www.hondaminitrail.com) Open class. More of a “run what ya brung” type class, this is for CRF-50 based machines (SDG 110s, Xtreme 107s and Icons) that pack a few more ponies and have the extra goodies on them. Perhaps drawing some of the most excitement, the Great Lakes Powersports (www.greatlakespowersports.com) Endurance Series makes its return to GLMMRS. Back by popular demand, the endurance series is new and improved for the 05-06 season, with teams consisting of a rider from each class, racing against each other in an 8-round, team-oriented, strategic endurance chase. With the help of Honda East, GLMMRS will also be raffling off a brand new Honda CRF-50. A limit of 200 tickets will be sold for $20 a piece, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Wegman Benefit Fund (www.wegmanfund.org) to help injured racer Vincent Haskovec. Tickets can be bought at any time, and special GLMMRS Challenges will award free entries into the raffle for winners of the challenges. Throughout the season, sponsors and vendors will help hop-up the GLMMRS CRF-50 to make a great prize, for a great cause. Whether you drag a knee or a foot, race on dirt or asphalt, or just plain enjoy riding motorcycles, there isn’t a more affordable way to get your adrenaline fix. With members from Canada, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Ohio, GLMMRS looks to attract riders all over the Midwest. Medals, championship trophies, 3 sprint races per event, endurance racing, random prize giveaways, along with clean racing at Kart 2 Kart’s top-notch indoor racing facility will make for a great season. See you at the first event!
