Two bikes make winners twice as happy in Ride for Kids®/Cycle World motorcycle drawing This year’s drawing offered two terrific Hondas: A CBR250R retooled by Gregg’s Customs and a Ruckus restyled by Troy Lee. This year Ride for Kids® and Cycle World magazine offered two drawing bikes to benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation® (PBTF). Gregg DesJardins customized a Honda CBR250R, and Troy Lee put his unique stamp on a Honda Ruckus. Both bikes were on the International Motorcycle Show circuit, where the CBR caught Brian Krumheuer’s eye. “I just wanted to do something to help,” the shocked Lansing, Mich., resident said after learning that he had won the custom sport bike. “I had no intention of winning. I can’t believe this!” Patrick Wypler of Bethlehem, Penn., bought his Ruckus tickets on the Ride for Kids® website earlier this year. He’s thrilled to have a new addition to his stable of Hondas. “We are definitely a Honda family,” Wypler said. “I have a Superhawk, and both of my kids have Hondas, too. I’m very psyched about the Ruckus, especially knowing that it’s a Troy Lee design.” “We recruited two moto-artists for these project bikes,” said Kyle Clack, national director of the PBTF Ride for Kids®. “Once again, Gregg DesJardins completely reworked a Honda CBR and came up with a unique street tracker, and Troy Lee did the full Troy Lee Designs treatment to a Honda Ruckus, resulting in a spectacular urban transporter. Together they made it possible for people to choose their weapon in the fight against childhood brain tumors.” Many companies contributed to the annual drawing’s success, including the co-presenter, Cycle World Magazine. American Honda donated the stock 2011 CBR250R and Ruckus and moved them to the International Motorcycle Shows, where show producer Advanstar provided display space. The bikes also appeared in Honda’s tent at Daytona. Gregg’s Customs built the sport bike with help from Sport Chrome, Performance Machine, Dunlop Tires, Leo Vince, Kyle Racing, Motorbikes Plus, Saddlemen and ColorZone Designs. Troy Lee Designs was assisted by Jim Busby Racing, Joker Machine, and Scott Bell. This year’s drawing raised more than $45,000 to benefit the PBTF. It has brought in over $657,000 in donations since 2000.
