With class Championships on the line at the final WSMC race of 2005 at Willow Springs, Pirelli racing tire distributor Tom Jirkovsky of Wheel 2 Wheel has not shown up on Saturday and is not answering calls to any of his known phone numbers. Pirelli riders were searching for tires on the second day of the three-day WSMC weekend. One rider, Premek Glinz, who has to finish second in Sunday’s Open Mod-Prod race to clinch the season title, says Jirkovsky owes him thousands of dollars worth of tires; Glinz says he turned contingency certificates over to Jirkovsky and did not receive tires in return. Glinz also said that recently Jirkovsky has asked several riders to pay him amounts ranging from $300 to $500 in tire pre-payments, and has not delivered the promised tires. Tom Jirkovsky could not be reached for comment. Tom Jirkovsky took over the Pirelli distributorship in the Southwest after his brother, Jerry Jirkovsky, was cut off by Pirelli for not paying for tires sold. Prior to taking over the distributorship, Tom Jirkovsky worked with his brother in the racing tire business, and often handled sales and tire fitment at events. Jerry Jirkovsky also owes money for other merchandise he sold (such as Vesrah brake pads), as well as for advertising purchased on Roadracingworld.com and for class sponsorship with WSMC. As this was being posted at 1:40 p.m. PST, the WSMC announcer stated over the P.A. system that Tom Jirkovsky had been called out of town for a family emergency and would not be at the track at all this weekend.
