DeLong Returns; Conquers All! WMRRA Round 3-June 15/16, Pacific Raceways, Kent, WA Washington Motorcycle Road Racing Associations Round 3 saw the return of former club champion and Pacific Raceways lap record holder, Ross Delong, to action after a yearlong absence from the club racing scene. Delong dominated both of the Formula Ultra races to come out as the weekends big winner on his new KFG Racing sponsored Suzuki GSX-R1000. After a rain-soaked, cold start to the 2013 season, Sean Galt summed up the round three weekend at Pacific Raceways by simply stating, “It didn’t rain!” Despite the sunshine, the track was still “green,” and lap times were consistently two seconds slower than those set at the end of last year. The first Novice race was a tense fight all the way to the checkered flag, with Keith Robert prevailing over Tim Wartchow. In Saturday’s Formula Ultra class, Ross DeLong stole and maintained a lead all the way to the checkered flag to stand on the top step of the podium. Ryan Sutton was able to put his Yamaha R6 on the second step, and Allister MacKinnon finished just ahead of the number one plate of Mark DeGross. In Sunday’s 600 Superbike, Kyle Staples finished shortly behind Ryan Sutton, with Wes Stults charging hard on his tail. The second Formula Ultra race on Sunday turned out to be another win for GSX-R1000-mounted Ross DeLong. He lurked in second place, just behind Mark Degross, before taking the lead. Allister MacKinnon fended off Ryan Sutton’s attempted passes, and came across the line in second after DeGross was pushed wide in turn four. Adam Robarts passed Sutton to take the final spot on the podium. Please also keep in your thoughts and prayers Lash Mullen and David Fallon, two of our riders who are now in medical care.
