WMRRA Hits The Ridge for Round 3 WMRRA Round 3, May 26/27, 2012 The Washington Motorcycle Road Racing Association’s Round 3 comes this weekend, and marks the first racing event of any kind to be held at the newly constructed The Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, WA. Built only last year, The Ridge combines features from other tracks around the world such as Valencia’s Turn Two and Laguna Seca’s infamous Corkscrew with its own unique features and amazing elevation changes. The track’s owners consulted with WMRRA officials and others in the motorcycle track day community during construction, resulting in one of the safest and most motorcycle friendly racetracks in the United States, and certainly one of the most challenging to ride. “Think about it: How many people can say they were at the first race ever at a track like this?” said WMRRA president Tim O’Mahony. “What would you give to go to a track like Laguna Seca or Daytona and, for the rest of your life, be able to say, ‘I was at the first race there.’ That’s the opportunity we have here, to be the first racers ever at what will certainly turn out to be one of the best tracks in American racing.” The Washington Motorcycle Road Racing Association was formed in 1974 to organize and promote the sport of motorcycle road racing in Washington State. WMRRA currently races at two tracks in the state, Pacific Raceways in Kent, Washington, and the newly constructed The Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, Washington.
