Jacobsen and Triple M Honda World Superbike Team revved up for US WorldSBK debut
US Round
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, United States
The Triple M Honda World Superbike Team and their American WorldSBK rookie PJ Jacobsen are revved up for their first foray at Laguna Seca this weekend, with the team unveiling a one-off livery commemorating American racing hero Nicky Hayden.
The Triple M Honda World Superbike team have taken the step up to the WorldSBK championship for the first time in 2018 with the CBR1000RR Fireblade SP2, with Jacobsen returning to the Honda camp as he too makes the step up to the premier class of production-based motorcycle racing this season.
Jacobsen currently sits in eighteenth position overall in the WorldSBK standings with 21 championship points and a best result of tenth place in Race 2 at the Thailand round.
For the American WorldSBK, on Saturday the team will unveil a special commemorative livery honouring Nicky Hayden on their CBR1000RR machine, with Jacobsen sporting matching leathers and helmet.
The United States round of the WorldSBK championship gets underway this Friday with Free Practice 1 at 0945 local time (GMT -7) with the two races set to start at 1400 local time on Saturday and Sunday.

I’m really looking forward to racing at Laguna Seca this weekend with my new Triple M Honda World Superbike Team, it’ll be my first home race in a world championship which is pretty cool. I haven’t been to Laguna Seca in a long time, but I’m sure I’ll get familiar with the circuit pretty quickly once I’m out on track for Free Practice 1. It’s exciting to be racing in front of my home fans and to honour Nicky with a special design on my bike, helmet and leathers, and the team and I can’t wait to get started.

We are really excited to go racing at Laguna Seca this weekend, even if it isn’t a circuit that PJ knows very well as it has been a long time since he has raced here. We’re all pumped for this event, especially as its PJ’s home race and we are proud to race in America with a special commemorative livery for Nicky Hayden following his passing last year. There is a lot to do, but our target is to help PJ achieve a top-ten result.
