Sepang (Malaysia), Thursday 5 June 2014 – The Sepang WSBK weekend officially started earlier today with riders representing each of the nine manufacturers visiting the eye catching Twin Towers in downtown Kuala Lumpur.
Jonathan Rea (Pata Honda World Superbike), Sylvain Guintoli (Aprilia Racing Team), David Salom (Kawasaki Racing Team), Geoff May (Team Hero EBR), Leon Camier (BMW Motorrad Italia Superbike Team), Ayrton Badovini (Team Bimota Alstare), Davide Giugliano (Ducati Superbike Team), Alex Lowes (Voltcom Crescent Suzuki) and Claudio Corti (MV Agusta RC – Yakhnich Motorsport) were joined by World Supersport wildcard rider Zaqwhan Zaidi (SIC Racing Team Honda) as they took one of the fastest elevators in the world to the viewing bridge that links the buildings before scaling the heights of the observation desk on the 86th floor.
A Q&A session was filmed afterwards, with a chance for the riders to then relax with the assembled local media ahead of tomorrow’s opening free practice sessions.
The excitement to be racing in Malaysia was clear from everyone at the event, with everyone anticipating close and unpredictable races on Sunday.
With Sepang being a new track on the WSBK calendar, both World Superbike and Supersport classes will undergo an extended, 75 minute first free practice session tomorrow morning.
