Positive two-day test for the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team at EuroSpeedway Lausitz

The Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team positively concluded a two-day test at EuroSpeedway Lausitz (Germany), the only new track on the 2016 calendar. The German circuit, which will host the WorldSBK championship on September 16-18, was a stable venue for the production-based series from 2001 to 2007. During this period, Ducati won five out of ten races.

Chaz Davies and Davide Giugliano thus were able to get acquainted with the 4.265 kilometer track, clocking 135 and 95 laps respectively on the Panigale R and laying the foundations for the work on the setup ahead of the tenth round of the season despite some rain on Tuesday, all the while evaluating new electronics and chassis solutions with positive feedback.

“All in all, it was a very positive test. I’ve been a little bit disappointed in the last few races as I didn’t have the same feel on the bike that I used to, but we’ve made some small adjustments and seemingly we were able to get it back. The priority was to learn the circuit, and it turned out to be more fun that what I thought but needs some renovations. The bumps, in particular, make it not easy to learn. We were lucky with the weather considering the forecast, as we only missed a couple of hours of track time. We did a lot of laps, and I think that we did a great time on race tyres, so we go on holiday tired and happy.”

Davide Giugliano (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati #34) 1’37.8

“It was important for us to come test on this track before the race. The last time I rode here was in 2007, and I didn’t remember it too well. The track is beautiful and fun to ride, the only problem is represented by the bumps, which are a bit too many. Anyway, we did a good job with the setup, evaluating a few solutions that should help us make another step forward in the last four rounds. Unfortunately, we couldn’t spend as much time on track as we would have liked to because of some issues and the rain, but we still gathered some crucial data before the race.”

The Althea BMW Racing team concludes testing at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz

In preparation for Round 10 of the 2016 Superbike World Championship, scheduled to take place at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz in Germany over the weekend of 16-18 September, the Althea BMW Racing Team have concluded a two-day test session at the same track this week.

Taking to the track with its SBK rider Jordi Torres and Stock1000 rider Raffaele De Rosa, the Italian squad make the most of the first session as they started to get to grips with this ‘new’ track. In the afternoon, work was interrupted by rain but despite that setback, the riders and their technicians continued to make progress, working to identify an effective set-up for their BMW S 1000 RR bikes at this racetrack.

Today, in more stable conditions, the Althea BMW Team was able to complete its work programme, finding some interesting solutions and collating important references and data ahead of the Superbike and Superstock 1000 races that will take place here in September. The Althea BMW team can now enjoy the summer break, before returning to the Lausitzring refreshed and ready for the final part of the season.

“We’ve completed two useful testing days, working on electronic aspects but also carrying out all those general tests needed so that we can understand exactly where we are and be as prepared as possible for the race. Of course we’ll have no idea of how we’re doing compared to the others until we get back here in September, but I’m satisfied with what we’ve got done here. We’ve collected a lot of information; I’m just sorry Markus was not here with us, as he knows the track well and could have helped us!”

Raffaele De Rosa

“I’m quite pleased because we’ve worked well, finding what we wanted to find. We were also lucky in terms of the weather… This is a new track for me and I like it though there are some bumpy sections… The grip isn’t bad though and the layout is something a bit different to other tracks, with a lot of chicanes. All in all, it’s been really useful to come here in preparation for the race, and the remainder of the championship, seeing as we didn’t know the place at all… Now we’ll have to wait until September to see what we can do…”

Moreno Coppola

“We’ve had two very busy days here, testing many things in preparation for the SBK races. We focused particularly on the rear of the bike and on certain electronic aspects. In terms of the Stock, we completed a number of set-up tests to try and achieve a faster, more constant bike/rider package.”
