Jules Danilo to join CIA Landlord Insurance Honda for 2019

CIA Landlord Insurance Honda are pleased to announce they have agreed terms with Frenchman Jules Danilo that will see the former Moto2™ rider contest the 2019 FIM Supersport World Championship aboard the team’s Honda CBR600RR.

At 23 years of age Danilo is not short of experience having previously finished runner up twice in the French 125cc/Moto3 championship. In 2013 Danilo rode in the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3™ series and made his Moto3™ World Championship debut the same year at his home Grand Prix when he stood in for an injured teammate. From 2014 he went on to contest the series full time year on year until he graduated to Moto2™ in 2018.

Danilo had this to say: “I am really excited to be joining CIA Landlord Insurance Honda next year, one of the most emblematic teams of the Supersport category. The team have been there for a long time now and always obtained good results so I’m really excited to be part of this project now. I’m sure that with Simon we share the same ambitions to be fighting up front. It’s also important for me after a tough season in Moto2™ to be able to bounce back and have such a good opportunity. I’ll be training as hard as I can, winter is going to be a bit shorter than usual but I’ll make sure I keep it intense and just get to PhiIip Island as fully fit and ready as I can. Thank you to everyone who was involved in making this happen and I’m looking forward to a great year together.”

CIA Landlord Insurance Honda Team Manager Simon Buckmaster on the new signing: “We are very pleased to announce our first new signing for CIA Landord Insurance Honda for 2019. We wanted a rider who we thought had the ambition and the same drive to succeed that we do as a team to get back to challenging for the World Championship. It came about as I was having dinner in Thailand with James Nay who owns Devil Evolution Exhausts and he mentioned Jules Danilo. We then subsequently learned that Jules is managed by Michael Bartholemy who ran the very successful MarcVDS team for many years winning Moto2™ World Championships. I know Michael from many years back and I value and respect his opinion, so that gave me even more faith that Jules is a man that can do the job for us. We will test in January and again in Philip island before the race. Stu, Andy and George have been working hard in the workshop to make our bike even better and stronger than before so we know we have the package and I believe here we have signed a rider who can deliver with us. This is great news and we will announce our second rider soon.”
