Jeremy Toye overcame breezy conditions and poor track conditions to shatter the lap records for literbikes and 600-class machinery on the 1.8-mile Streets of Willow course and take the Formula One and 650 Superbike wins in Willow Springs Motorcycle Club competition this weekend.

In Formula One, Toye stalked his teammate Jimmy Wood for the first two laps, then shot past on the front straight. A lap later, Toye had a new record in hand, turning a 1:14.271 lap on his Lee’s Cycle-backed, Dunlop-shod Honda CBR1000RR. Toye then dialed things back a notch, easing to a 6.378-second win in the 12-lap feature race.

Toye, who enjoys the tight, technical Streets course, also won the 650 Superbike race on his Lee’s Cycle-built, Dunlop-shod Yamaha YZF-R6, leading Wood across the stripe after six laps by 5.344 seconds. Toye’s best time of 1:14.913 set a new lap record for middleweight machinery at the track.

In the 650 Superbike contest, Wood managed to just hold off AMA Superbike regular Shawn Higbee, who showed up on a Wheels in Motion /Dr. Bob’s Motorcycle Medicine-sponsored Yamaha YZF-R6 and raced in the middleweight classes. A few moments later, however, in the Formula One event, Higbee chased Wood throughout the event, then caught the Lee’s Cycle rider on the last lap to snatch second place.

Austin Dehaven, Bryce Prince and Brant Wiwi rounded out the top six, with Scott Tillery and James Randolph the only other finishers on the lead lap.

Brant Wiwi took the Open Superstock win, with Corey Neuer winning Open Modified Production and Reno Karimian taking the Open Superbike victory. Ken Kramer swept the 750cc classes over Jeff Stern and Ryan Gagliano each time, while Higbee took the 600cc Superstock and 600cc Modified Production wins, setting a new lap record for each class.

More, from a press release issued by Shawn Higbee Racing:

Higbee sets new class track records at Streets of Willow

The 2010 WSMC championship now includes 3 events at the 1.8mile Streets of Willow track. In the first Streets of Willow event of the season, Shawn Higbee set new track records of 1:15.347 in 600 Super Stock and 1:15.155 in the 600 Modified Production classes aboard the Wheels in Motion /Dr. Bob’s “Motorcycle Medicine” sponsored Yamaha R6.

Higbee comments, “I really need to thank Gary from Wheels in Motion for preparing the bike. Penske shocks and Traxxion dynamics have been working with me on the suspension and the improvements really showed this weekend. And with Dr. Bob Fleischner’s Chiropractic adjustments my focus was great on race day.”

The WSMC championship returns to the classic 2.5 mile Willow Springs roadcourse on March 21st.
