Yamaha Introduces New FZ-09 and ABS-Equipped FZ-07, Along With Remainder Of 2017 Sport Motorcycle Models

Cypress, CA – October 13, 2016 – Following the introduction of the 2017 FZ-10, announced earlier this year, Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., today introduced the remainder of its 2017 Sport motorcycle models, including a refined and redesigned FZ-09 and an additional FZ-07 model that is equipped with ABS.

2017 FZ-09

With its aggressive styling and impressive performance, the original FZ-09 blew the naked sportbike segment wide open. And now, for 2017, the FZ-09 is back with radical new styling and a host of performance updates. New features for 2017 include adjustable Traction Control, fully adjustable front forks, an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), and an aggressive look that takes its styling cues from its big brother, the FZ-10.

New, floating-style quad-LED headlights and a sculpted 3D taillight combine with sleek new radiator shrouds, air scoops and a swingarm-mounted license plate bracket to give the 2017 FZ-09 an even more extreme style that places it squarely in the front of the naked sportbike class.

For 2017, the FZ-09’s 847cc, crossplane-concept, liquid-cooled, inline, three-cylinder, fuelinjected engine combines advanced, high-tech components, including YCC-T®, Yamaha DMode (user-selectable, electronically controlled drive modes), and Traction Control, to deliver an exciting, torquey, and quick-revving engine character. Combined with an Assist & Slipper (A&S) Clutch plus new ABS-equipped brakes, the 2017 FZ-09 is built around rider-centric control across a wide range of road conditions and individual riding styles.

Performance-minded FZ-09 riders can also install a new Genuine Yamaha Quick Shift System as an accessory, which delivers clutchless, full-throttle upshifts for maximum acceleration.

The 2017 FZ-09 will be available in Candy Red, Matte Silver and Intensity White, will retail for $8,999, and will be available in dealerships beginning in February.

2017 FZ-07 ABS / FZ-07

For 2017, there will be two different FZ-07 models available. The FZ-07 ABS includes a new Anti-Lock Braking System, which supports the potent triple-disc brakes and boosts rider confidence by preventing wheel lock-ups in reduced-traction conditions.

The FZ-07 ABS and FZ-07 both feature the same 689cc, crossplane-concept, liquid-cooled, inline, twin-cylinder, DOHC, 8-valve engine with fuel injection, which provides outstanding low to mid-range torque with very linear throttle response. Chassis dimensions and design ergonomics work with the qualities of the compact twin-cylinder engine to achieve a sporty, light, and neutral handling character.

The FZ-07 ABS will be available in Rapid Red and retail for $7,499, while the non-ABS FZ-07 will be available in Rapid Red, Glacier Blue and Matte Silver and retail for $7,199. Both models are due to arrive on Yamaha dealership showroom floors beginning in February.

2017 FZ6R

For 2017, the FZ6R remains a perfect choice for riders who are looking for a practical 600cc streetbike that delivers uncompromising performance, full-fairing style, and excellent value. The FZ6R is a great combination of performance, handling, and exciting sportbike style. Thanks to an adjustable handlebar and a low seat that’s also adjustable, the FZ6R makes sure-footed stops easily attainable.

The fuel-injected, 600cc engine delivers smooth power, providing brisk acceleration with plenty of torque and low- to mid-rpm engine performance that makes it a pleasure to get around town, with plenty in reserve for when you want more.

The 2017 FZ6R will be available in Matte Silver for a suggested retail price of $7,799, and it will be available in dealerships beginning in October.
