SSB Yamaha Custom Showdown Returns with Online Competition and Custom Shows CYPRESS, Calif. “” Yamaha Motor Corporation is looking for the best amateur and professional sportbike builders in the nation! The SSB Yamaha Custom Showdown Presented by Yamalube, returns for another year of cash, trophies, free MotoGP tickets and bragging rights as custom sportbike owners compete online and at two exclusive shows. The competition begins online for amateur builders, who can submit their customized Yamaha sportbike at www.yamaha-motor.com/customshowdown. 150 entrants will be offered a pair of 3-day passes to one of the U.S. MotoGP races, and 20 entrants will get an exclusive invitation to have their bikes onsite at one of the Custom Bike Shows that will be held at this year’s two U.S. MotoGP races. Once onsite, the amateur builders will compete in three classes: Best R1, Best R6 and the Open Class. Trophies and up to $500 in gift cards courtesy of Yamaha Parts & Accessories will be awarded at each round. In addition, every onsite entrant will receive $300 in show money. Winners from both of the Custom Bike Shows will then compete in a national online contest, where consumers will vote to determine who will be the “Amateur Builder of the Year”. The winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize, a feature in Super Streetbike magazine and bragging rights as the “Amateur Builder of the Year.” The SSB Yamaha Custom Showdown also includes a pro builder class with fans voting for their favorite professionally built custom sportbikes. Pro builders will compete for $5,000 in cash prizes and a new YZF-R1 will be awarded to the builder who attends both rounds and receives the greatest number of votes. Super Streetbike is always looking for amazing bikes to feature in the pages of their magazine and their editors will be paying close attention to every bike entered into the SSB Yamaha Custom Showdown. Who knows, your bike could be their next cover model. “Super Streetbike is excited to see what the trend will be at the 2012 Showdowns,” says editor Dave Sonsky. “Last year there was emphasis on all-out performance, opening the door for even more enthusiasts to enter their rides. We’re encouraging owners of all Yamaha sportbikes who have added their special touch to share their bikes by uploading them to www.yamaha-motor.com/customshowdown.” The builders aren’t the only ones who can look forward to winning. Everyone who votes at the shows will be entered to win a Super Streetbike YZF-R6, customized by the staff. The R6 will be on display at both shows; for more information on the sweepstakes visit www.superstreetbike.com/r6sweepstakes. Yamaha’s own line of high-performance oil, Yamalube, returns as a sponsor of the Showdown.
