First race weekend of 2016 is the Yamaha Finance Australian Round of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship
Yamaha Financial Services (YFS) will be the Event Main Sponsor for the World Superbike Championship event in Australia. The sponsorship will see the insurance and finance group sponsor the inaugural race meeting of 2016, set to take place at Phillip Island on the 26th-28th of February.
The MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship will ensure that Yamaha Financial Services’ continued expansion gains the widest audience possible through WorldSBK’s globally evolving TV broadcast network, which will provide world-leading and wide-ranging exposure in both domestic and international markets.
“WorldSBK, like Yamaha Finance and Insurance, is for real motorcyclists,” said Brad Ryan of YFS. “So with Yamaha re-joining the World Superbike Paddock in 2016, and with Yamaha Finance’s continued expansion in Australia and around the globe, supporting the Phillip Island WorldSBK round was an easy decision. We’re delighted to be associated with such a blue ribbon event, and look forward to a long and prosperous partnership with Dorna and the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.”
“I’m really thrilled to welcome Yamaha Financial Services to our event,” said Fergus Cameron, Managing Director of the Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit.
“Our track seems to deliver the fastest, closest racing on the planet and now with the backing of YFS, we can add further resources and impetus to the WorldSBK weekend. Everyone loves World Superbikes at the island.”
“We’re equally delighted to welcome Yamaha Finance and Insurance on board as the Event Main Sponsor of the first round of the season,” added Marc Saurina, WorldSBK Commercial & Marketing Department Director. “It’s a fantastic event to get the season underway and having such a sponsor is a great start to a new dawn in the history of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship.”
That new era begins at the end of February as the Yamaha Finance Australian Round inaugurates the 2016 season, with Phillip Island proving the perfect backdrop to another scintillating showdown of wheel-to-wheel action. Rea, Davies, Guintoli and Lowes will all face down local hero Josh Brookes as they get back on track to write another spectacular chapter in the third decade of Superbike racing on one of the finest racetracks on Earth.
