        Thanks to the lingering effects of supply chain issues and logistical challenges, Yamaha started receiving 2022-model MT-10 SP roadsters late in the calendar year. But the good news is that it’s a stylish, naked sportbike that goes, stops, and handles with the best of them even if it’s a 2022 model. 

        I attended the launch of the original FZ-10 back in 2017. The FZ-10 was essentially a naked YZF-R1S with a retuned engine and the addition of cruise control, and it was fun to ride. 

        Since then, Yamaha engineers have evolved the company’s FZ performance naked-bike line with an emphasis on torque, with the new MT designation standing for “Master of Torque.” Which bring us to the MT-10 ‘hyper-naked’ model, which offers better performance, more adjustability, and more aggressive styling. The MT-10 SP is at another level…

Starting with the frame and engine of its YZF-R1, Yamaha has evolved the MT-10 naked roadster into a torquey beast with excellent road manners, thanks to upgraded Ohlins suspension components and other choice bits.
