The bLU cRU Is Ready To Shake Things Up In The Salt Lake City Area This Weekend At Miller Motorsports Park
Cypress, CA – June 24, 2015 – Things are tight atop the points standings in the 2015 MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Motorcycle Road Racing Championship, and the Yamaha bLU cRU riders are ready to shake things up a bit near Salt Lake City, UT, when they race this weekend on the 3.048-mile, 15-turn road course at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele.
Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha: Beaubier & Hayes
In Superbike, Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha teammates Cameron Beaubier and Josh Hayes are first and second, respectively, in the points standings, with just six points separating the two Yamaha YZF-R1 riders. Cameron and Josh have each swept a round in this year’s MotoAmerica Superbike Championship, and they’ve evenly split the wins at all the other rounds thus far. With each Monster man winning five races, the all-new 2015 Yamaha R1 Superbike is currently undefeated in its debut season.
Josh, who is the four-time and defending AMA Superbike Champion, counts Miller Motorsports Park as one of his favorite tracks in the U.S. The fast and flowing road course suits him well, and he really enjoys coming to Miller. And, speaking of “fast and flowing,” that is a very accurate description of Cameron’s racing style. The 22-year-old is one of the smoothest road racers to come out of northern California since riders like four-time Grand Prix Champion “Steady Eddie” Lawson and three-time AMA Superbike Champ Doug Chandler. Cameron is looking forward to racing again at Miller Motorsports Park this weekend.
MotoAmerica Superbike Superpole (Qualifying) begins at Miller on Saturday, June 27, at 2:10 PM MST. Superbike Race 1 will go green on Sunday, June 28, at 12:30 PM MST, and Superbike Race 2 is set for later on Sunday at 4:00 PM MST.
Yamalube/Y.E.S./Graves/Yamaha: Beach & Gerloff
In Supersport, the points standings are almost as tight, with Yamalube/Y.E.S./Graves/Yamaha rider JD Beach leading the Championship by ten points over fellow Yamaha YZF-R6 rider Josh Herrin. JD has won five races thus far in 2015, and he’s coming off his first career double-win weekend, which he notched at Barber Motorsports Park, the previous round on the 2015 MotoAmerica Supersport schedule. The “Jiggy Dog” is determined to keep the momentum going aboard his #95 R6.
JD’s Yamalube/Y.E.S./Graves/Yamaha teammate Garrett Gerloff, who clinched last year’s three-event Superbike Shootout Championship by winning the Pro Sportbike Race at Miller Motorsports Park, is hoping for the same success at a track on which he’s turned a lot of laps over the years. Garrett is currently third in the 2015 MotoAmerica Supersport Championship with one win on the season. He’s looking to turn things around and get himself (and his #31 R6) back in the win column in Utah.
MotoAmerica Supersport Qualifying 1 is on Friday, June 26, at 1:50 PM MST. Final Supersport Qualifying is Saturday, June 27, at 9:50 AM MST, and Supersport Race 1 will go green later on Saturday at 1:00 PM MST. Supersport Race 2 is scheduled to start on Sunday, June 28, at 2:40 PM MST.
Meet The Yamaha bLU cRU
The Dunlop Fan Walk, scheduled for 10:15 AM MST Sunday on pit lane at Miller Motorsports Park, is a great opportunity to meet Josh, Cameron, JD, Garrett, and the other Yamaha bLU cRU riders. They’ll be handing out free, autographed posters and other team items, and you can also get your picture taken with them, as well as the Monster Energy and Yamalube Umbrella Girls.
