Cypress, CA (February 6, 2007) – Yamaha Motor Corporation is pleased to announce today a greatly enhanced Road Racing Contingency Program for the 2007 season. With an increase of nearly $800,000 available to YZF-R6 and YZF-R1 racers across the country, this represents the largest posting in Yamaha’s history! This increase is focused on Regional Sprint Events as well as National Series such as ASRA and WERA. “The lion’s share of this increase hits the heart of U.S. Road Racing, the Local and Regional Sprint events” says Yamaha Racing Manager Mike Guerra. “We made these increases where they are most achievable by expanding the depth of payout to cover the Top Ten finishing positions at Regional Sprint Events.” With the previously announced Motocross and Off-Road Program, Yamaha has now posted a total of over $14,000,000 in contingency for the 2007 racing season.
