Yamaha’s Herrin Determined To Defend AMA Pro Superbike Point Lead This Coming Weekend At NJMP And Other Team Previews

The Stakes Are High For Yamaha U.S. Road Racing Teams At This Weekend’s New Jersey Lottery Devil’s Showdown Cypress, CA – September 11, 2013 – For the Yamaha U.S. Road Racing Teams, two GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing Championships hang in the balance, and this weekend’s New Jersey Lottery Devil’s Showdown at the 14-turn, 2.25-mile New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, New Jersey, will be a pivotal event as the 2013 nears its conclusion. MONSTER ENERGY/GRAVES/YAMAHA: HAYES & HERRIN Rider of the #2 Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha YZF-R1 Josh Herrin has stepped up his fitness program this season, and the hard work has paid off handsomely for the Georgia rider. Herrin is currently leading the 2013 AMA Pro National Guard SuperBike Championship based on the strength of his 3 race wins and 9 podium finishes in 11 starts so far this season. He’s determined to stay atop the standings until the #1 plate is firmly in his grasp. “I want to succeed as badly as I want to breathe,” Herrin commented. “I’m ready to showcase my ability, and I’m looking forward to defending my lead in the SuperBike Championship this weekend.” Currently poised in third place in the standings, but very much in contention to win an unprecedented fourth-consecutive SuperBike Championship, is the rider of the #1 Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha R1 Josh Hayes. The Mississippi Madman has had a memorable 2013 season, to say the least. He’s won six races, and he’s earned every pole position this year for a perfect qualifying record. Yet, he was challenged by adversity at the season-opening round at Daytona, as well as at the most recent round at Miller Motorsports Park. Hayes is currently just 16 points in back of his teammate at the top of the standings, so this weekend’s two SuperBike races are sure to offer edge-of-the-seat excitement. “New Jersey Motorsports Park has been a really good racetrack for me,” Hayes said. “I’ve won seven out of the eight races that we’ve run there, so I’ve had great success in New Jersey. I have a lot of confidence going in, and my plan stays the same, which is to earn the pole, win both races, and lead the most laps. The Championship is obviously very important to me, but I’m not about to ride conservatively to make it happen. That’s not me.” With both riders in the top three in the season points standings, the Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha SuperBike team and Yamaha are the odds-on favorites to win the 2013 SuperBike Team and SuperBike Manufacturer’s Championships, respectively. YAMAHA EXTENDED SERVICE/MONSTER ENERGY/GRAVES/YAMAHA: BEAUBIER & GERLOFF “Domination” is the best one-word description for the season that Y.E.S./Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha rider Cameron Beaubier has been having in the AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike class. Cameron, who pilots the #6 Yamaha YZF-R6, has earned every pole position this season, won the Daytona 200, and notched 9 victories out of 10 races. He has a commanding 86-point lead in the Championship and can win his, and Yamaha’s, first Daytona SportBike title with a strong finish in Saturday’s DSB Race 1 this weekend. “I have a chance to wrap up the Championship in the first race at New Jersey,” commented Cameron. “But I’m determined to stay focused and stay relaxed, even though this could be the biggest weekend of my racing career so far!” Y.E.S./Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha teammate Garrett Gerloff and his #8 R6 have run up front and also in the lead in the past few races, with the young and talented Texan finishing second more times than he likes. Garrett’s AMA Pro Racing debut occurred just two short years ago at New Jersey Motorsports Park, and he won his very first professional race. There is quite literally nothing he’d love more than to follow that up with his first-ever Daytona SportBike race this weekend, again at NJMP. “New Jersey Motorsports Park has been a big track for me the past couple of years,” said Garrett. “It was where I had my first professional race, where I got my first AMA Pro win, and where I came back from my worst injury to date. It’s a technical track which suits my riding style, and I can’t wait to get back there.” As with the Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha SuperBike team, the Y.E.S./Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha Daytona SportBike team is in the lead for the 2013 DSB Team Championship, with Yamaha also leading the 2013 DSB Manufacturer’s Championship. AMA PRO SUPERBIKE RIDER RYAN KERR IS FOCUSED ON A STRONG FINISH AT THUNDERBOLT RACEWAY

Johnstown, Ohio – After mechanical issues at Mid-Ohio shortened his weekend of racing, Ryan Kerr and the Ryan Kerr Racing team are ready to get back on the track at Thunderbolt Raceway.

Kerr explains, “My first season competing as an AMA Pro SuperBike Rider has been surrounded with ups and downs but I am hopeful for a strong finish in New Jersey!”

We have had some unfortunate setbacks this season with unexpected mechanical problems but we continue to rally and I plan on finishing the season strong. Kerr compares the journey of becoming a top level competitor in motorcycle road racing as a roller coaster ride.

Kerr explains, “Competing as a privateer in an industry driven by million dollar teams has its highs and lows. My team is comprised of my dad, step dad, grandpa, other family members and close friends. It’s truly a challenge to maintain a high level of competition on our very limited budget with limited team members. Often times, I carry multiple responsibilities at the races ranging from set up, tire changer, mechanic and finally the rider on the track. I know that consistency is the key to becoming a champion and my team and I will continue to strive to be the best and improve at every racing event. I hope that someday I will get my break with some outside help to allow me to show my true talent. But for now, we will continue to push forward and pride ourselves at reaching the top level with pure hard work and devotion to living the dream!”

Ryan Kerr and the Ryan Kerr Racing Team are coming into the Jersey race with a focus of taking everything learned this year and applying it on the track at Thunderbolt Raceway. Kerr states, “I look forward to the upcoming race and I am confident that I will have my strongest finishes of the season in New Jersey.”

Finally, Ryan Kerr would like for all of his fans to join the team! Become a member of the Ryan Kerr Fan Club by checking out his website at www.Flyinryankerr.com. Also, take the time to like the Ryan Kerr Racing facebook fan page to get the latest information about Ryan and his racing career.

National Guard Celtic Racing Anticipates Successful Races At New Jersey Motorsports Park

National Guard Celtic Racing returns to New Jersey Motorsports Park this weekend for the penultimate event of the 2013 AMA Pro Road Racing season. In the SuperSport class, Corey Alexander leads the East division championship by nine points over his rivals, with two wins and four podium finishes so far this season. There is certainly a great deal of pressure for Alexander to perform from the moment the tire warmers come off. In Daytona Sport Bike, James Rispoli has had a very consistent season and sits in sixth place overall, within three points of fifth. Rispoli has yet to finish outside the top ten, and has worked hard to improve his results and position in the championship standings. The team also welcomes Caroline Olsen to New Jersey Motorsports Park, where she will be signing autographs and providing encouragement and support to Corey and James over the weekend.

2013 marks the fifth consecutive season the AMA Pro Road Racing series has visited New Jersey Motorsports Park. Located in southern New Jersey, the Thunderbolt circuit at New Jersey Motorsports Park is a 14 turn, 2.25 mile long thriller that challenges the racers and excites the spectators.

Corey Alexander finished a strong fourth in his last professional race at New Jersey Motorsports Park, and has a great deal of laps under his belt there. Corey will ride his #5 National Guard Celtic Racing Suzuki GSX-R 600 with every ounce of speed he can muster to secure the SuperSport East championship. Corey said enthusiastically that “I’m extremely excited to return to New Jersey Motorsports Park for my home race this weekend. Jersey has always been a good track for me since my career began, and I always hope to do better there. Hopefully this year we will get up on the podium where we need to be to bring home this championship. I know everyone will be bringing their A-game but I think our National Guard Celtic Racing team has what it takes to bring home the title! I’m very eager for the weekend to begin, and I am trying to go into it with an open mind. Thanks to all of my personal sponsors: Arai Helmets, Spidi Leathers, XPD Boots, AMMO NYC, Hudson Valley Motorcycles, and MJRS Freeman Racing for all their support. I look forward to seeing all of my family and friends out at the track.”

James Rispoli will ride his #43 National Guard Celtic Racing Suzuki GSX-R 600 in the Daytona Sport Bike class, and hopes to mirror his results from 2012 where he won SuperSport race one, and took second in race two after starting from second on the grid. Rispoli is stoked for the race at New Jersey Motorsports Park, and as the previous year’s results have shown, he knows his way around the Thunderbolt circuit. Rispoli stated that “I’m really excited to get back racing. I am also thrilled to be going to one of my favorite tracks; I have had really good success at New Jersey and I feel really confident. My Celtic Racing team has been working around the clock trying to sort through some ideas. We are ready to put the fight on and get to the front.” Rispoli’s personal sponsors include AGV Helmets, Dainese Leathers, Monster Energy, Spider Grips, and Techmounts.

Caroline Olsen is still recovering from injuries suffered at Road America earlier this season, but has been making steady progress. Caroline will join the Celtic Racing team for the weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park, but will not be riding at this event. Caroline has been working with sports medicine doctors in Norway and consulting regularly with Dr. Ting in California. Caroline has been very moved with the outpouring of support from fans around the world and can’t wait to get back on the bike and start racing again soon. “I’m looking forward to joining the team again at New Jersey, even though I’m still stuck at the sideline. My shoulder is getting better every day, but it will still be a couple of months before I can be back on my motorcycle. In the meantime, I’ll do my best to support James and Corey. I think they will do great this weekend, and I’m really looking forward to see them race again. I have to thank my family, sponsors and team for their continuing support, it really means a lot!”
