The Laguna Seca Grand Prix race weekend kicked off in style today with a rare appearance by Yamaha GP riders past and present. Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies and Yamaha Tech3’s Colin Edwards and Cal Crutchlow were joined by living GP legends Kenny Roberts Sr, Eddie Lawson, Wayne Rainey and Kel Carruthers. The riders had been together at Yamaha US headquarters earlier in the week to make a tongue in cheek video for Yamaha, due to be releases this weekend, before moving on to Laguna Seca today. The press conference this afternoon saw them share some of their greatest memories from their racing history with Yamaha. On Friday Kenny Roberts Sr will take to the track on a one-off Yamaha YZF R1 sporting the 50th Anniversary red and white colour scheme. Saturday will see him repeat his track tour, but this time on the YZR-M1 before his grand finale on Sunday on track with his 1979 Yamaha 500cc GP bike.
