Aurora, IL (August 26, 2008) Michael Jordan Motor Sports Suzuki’s Aaron Yates will compete for his third consecutive Superstock win of the season when the team travels to Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia August 29-31. Yates, who has previously enjoyed two Superbike and one SuperTwins wins at Road Atlanta, hopes to earn his first Superstock win on the 2.54 mile, 12 turn road course. A win for Yates in the AMA Superstock event would also secure his place as the second winningest rider in the series class. In eight outings this season, Yates has enjoyed success with four pole starts, four wins, and four second place finishes; he has also led the most laps at two events. Yates, who is currently the leader in the AMA Superstock championship by 36 points, needs only three points over the second place competitor to solidify the championship this weekend at Road Atlanta. “Road Atlanta is a track I go well at, so I’m targeting a strong finish,” said Yates. Yates’ Jordan Suzuki teammate, Geoff May, is seeking his second race win of the season at Road Atlanta. In 2007, May qualified fourth in the AMA Superstock race and finished on the podium in third place. A rookie with Jordan Suzuki, May has earned three Superstock podium finishes, including his first AMA National win, with his new team. He is currently third in overall points in the AMA Superstock championship. In addition to their AMA Superstock race duties, May and Yates, both natives of Georgia, also compete in the AMA Superbike class. May, who races in the premier class on a production-based Suzuki GSX-R1000, looks forward to making another strong showing in the class. “I’m very excited to be coming home to Road Atlanta,” said May. “It’s one of my best tracks and I am looking forward to racing there with my Jordan Suzuki.” This season, May has earned 12 top 10 finishes in the Superbike class, placing him eighth in the overall points standings. Yates, on his Superbike, has earned a third place podium, four top five finishes and an additional three top eight finishes, proving he has the skill and Superbike power needed to make the podium. In 2007, at Road Atlanta, Yates earned back-to-back fourth place finishes in the Suzuki Superbike doubleheader event. He is currently ninth in overall AMA Superbike championship points. Following Road Atlanta, the Jordan Suzuki riders and crew will visit Monterey, California’s Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca September 27-28 for the 2008 AMA Championship season finale.
