CCS Florida/Southeast Region Jennings GP
Yonce Wins Again at JenningsGP On Sunday
Trey Yonce won the Unlimited Grand Prix race at JenningsGP for the second time in as many CCS regional events at the track. As during last month’s feature race, before the end of the first lap, a red flag incident stopped the race. Dave McEnery, who had nabbed the holeshot, was ahead of the rest of the field when he highsided in Turn 13. Although McEnery was able to walk away from the crash, he did sustain injuries to his hand and requested transport to a local hospital. The red flag however, was thrown for another crash in turn nine involving debris on the track.
At the restart of the race, Yonce nailed the holeshot and took the lead. He was able to maintain his advantage from start to finish. Behind him was a four-rider battle for second place. Michael Rouleau claimed the second spot on the podium with Sean Dwyer and Greg Melka close behind in third and fourth place.
Earlier during the day, Yonce won the Expert GTU race after claiming an early lead and pulling away from the rest of the field.

ASRA Regulars Test Blustery Summit Point
Looking over the paddock it looked more like the end of May than the first weekend as some of the ASRA Pro regulars took advantage of the event to test for the upcoming national on May 28-29. Jeff Wood, Rick Beggs, Sam and Joe Rozynski, Steve Kennedy and Bryan Bemisderfer were just a few of the riders here to prep for the end of the month, facing temperatures in the low 60’s with winds gusting to 25 mph on Sunday, it was more of a test than most wanted to face.
Saturday was overcast and not quite as windy as the riders competed in five 25-minute GT races and five 7-lap sprints, and despite some lengthy clean-up, great work by the MARRC Safety Crew helped finish the day before the rain closed in at 5:00pm
Jeff Wood, defending ASRA SportBike and SuperBike Champion, when asked about the prospects for the upcoming Summit Point Cyclefest on May 28-29, he replied “My mechanic Lief and I am extremely happy with the progress we made on the new Yamahas! The competition was great in Topeka and we are really looking forward to the rest of the season.” Jeff proved it by coming out the winner in two of Saturday’s CCS Expert GT races, riding his Bettencourt’s sponsored Yamaha on Dunlop tires to convincing wins over David Rose in GTU and by 24 seconds over Adrian Jones in GTO. On Sunday, Wood continued to roll with wins in Middleweight SuperBike, the $1000 Unlimited GP, Middleweight SuperSport and Unlimited SuperSport to claim $8,000.00 in Yamaha Contingency Prizes for his perfect weekend, 6 wins in 6 races.
Bryan Bemisderfer finally got his HDFR sponsored Buell XBRR to the track after many mechanical gremlins sidelined them for the first two ASRA events. “We really have to put our head down now” said Bryan, “we’re 58 points back in ASRA Pro ThunderBike with 6 races to go and Danny (Bilansky), Dave (Estok) and Darren (James) are all looking tough this year. I just hope we can get this thing on track.” Putting his talents to work, Bryan snagged wins in SuperTwins and the last lap pass of Art Diaz to take ThunderBike, the two wins were worth $1,000 in Buell Contingency for Bemisderfer.
ASRA Pro Series regular Steve Kennedy aboard his Honda 600 joined Wood and Bemisderfer with a win in Heavyweight SuperSport after overcoming what appeared to be a fuel delivery problem on the first lap. Kennedy stopped 4-time winner Arnold Hastings with a.319 second margin of victory.
Others taking multiple wins in Expert races over the weekend were Arnold Hastings with his Suzuki SV 650 in GTL, Lightweight SuperSport, Lightweight SuperBike and Lightweight GP, Ryan Patterson scored wins for Middleweight GP and Heavyweight SuperBike.
The weekend’s top Amateur winners: Bobby Kim on his Pirelli-shod Suzuki SV650 took wins in GTL, ThunderBike, SuperTwins and Lightweight SuperBike. Nassef Guirguis won the $1000 Unlimited GP and GTO, Kang Lu won both Middleweight GP and Unlimited SuperBike, Alexander Lazo in Lightweight SuperSport and Lightweight GP, Daniel Bennett in Middleweight SuperBike and Middleweight SuperSport

More, from a press release issued by Stuart Smith Racing:
Working hard to muscle his Michelin shod Kawasaki ZX10R around The Streets of Willow Springs, Stuart Smith won all three open class races and set the fastest lap time of the weekend (1:18.4) while setting a new lap record for the Open Superbike class during round two of the WSMC Streets Series.
“I just love these WSMC Streets races” said Stuart, “I have a ton of laps around this track working as an instructor for the California Superbike School and I think that’s really helped me out.” Stuart was able to lead every lap of all three open class races and was the only rider to turn a lap in the 1:18 range.
Although a large contingent of two stroke riders turned out for the combined USGPRU/WSMC event weekend the grids for the open class races were quite sparse. “I’d like to see more liter class bikes on the grid next round” said Smith, “I think these WSMC Streets races are a blast on a liter bike and more riders would make it even better.”
More, from a press release issued by apex2apex.net:
Brent Bennett, owner of trackday apex2apex.net, won all four Yamaha contingency races during a WERA event at Nelson Ledges Sunday, riding his Supersport Yamaha YZF-R6 and Supersport Yamaha YZF-R1 on Pirelli tires.
“The new Race DOT tires are incredible, giving great front-end feel,” said Bennett. “I love Pirelli’s new race tire.”
It was Bennett’s first race weekend of the year. “I didn’t show up the the track until Saturday because of work and family obligations,” he said. “Even though I didn’t have any time to test these new tires, it didn’t matter, they were instantly better without having to adjust my last year’s settings.
“It’s nice to start the season off winning all four Yamaha Contingency Races on race DOTs. We are fortunate that Pirelli has agreed to allow us to sell these same tires to our apex2apex.net trackday members at our first event, scheduled for May 21st.”
