Yoshimura R&D Named As Series Partner

COSTA MESA, CA, FEB. 4 – MotoAmerica, the new home of the AMA Superbike Series, has announced that Yoshimura Research & Development has been named as the official exhaust of the 2015 MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Road Racing Series.

Yoshimura R&D has been involved with road racing in the U.S. for decades, partnering with leading motorcycle manufacturers and riders in the series to earn race wins and titles. Yoshimura R&D currently runs the Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Race Team effort in the MotoAmerica Series while also collaborating with Yoshimura Japan. Yoshimura road-racing success with Suzuki is legendary, with Yoshimura leading the Suzuki factory Superbike team to 10 of the last 16 AMA Superbike Championships.

“It’s great to have Yoshimura on board with MotoAmerica,” said three-time 500cc World Champion and MotoAmerica President Wayne Rainey. “I battled with those guys when I raced in the AMA Superbike Series and they were always a formidable rival. Yoshimura R&D produces quality product for race teams and riders in our series and also for our motorcycle-riding fans. We welcome them as the official exhaust of MotoAmerica.”

The Chino, California-based Yoshimura won its first AMA Superbike Championship with Suzuki in 1979. They’ve taken part in the AMA Superbike Series ever since, but this is the first time they have participated as a sponsorship partner.

“Wayne Rainey has said we need to start fresh and we could not agree more,” said Yoshimura R&D Director of Sales Dave Waugh. “The question is: Are we all going to sit on the sidelines and see what happens? Yoshimura R&D manufactures its products in America, races in America and we are here to support MotoAmerica. Yoshimura R&D has participated in road racing for decades and racing is a core component of our DNA. The new role we play in support of this series is a first for us and we encourage fans and industry to do the same: Be part of the action.”
