February 19th, 2009 (Reno, NV)- Syndicate Motorsport Management, LLC announced today that Josh Day will compete at Daytona in the Supersport Class as a member of Evan Steel Performance. After hearing what Josh was able to do in the European 600 Superstock class, Evan Steel Performance is confident that the Orlando, Florida youngster can earn a position that will warrant additional support. Evan Steel: “Phil Allison (Evan Steel Performance co-owner) and I were interested in trying to help a fast young rider in the Supersport class. With Josh, I think we have a rider that is capable of consistently running up front and winning races. Our goal is to run Josh for the whole series and go for the championship. With the state of the economy, sponsorship is harder than ever to find. Josh, like a lot of other riders this year, is a victim of circumstances. In 2008, he entered a few select AMA Superbike races and was able to finish in the top 15. He went to Europe and raced an unfamiliar brand, on unfamiliar tracks and was able to finish as high as 5th. Any other year, he would be looking at multiple offers from factory supported teams, but this year there just aren’t enough seats for young talent. We’re confident that Josh can achieve a result that will attract additional financial support for the rest of the season.” Josh Day: “I’m excited for Daytona. After all that happened in 2008, I’m ready to race in the new Supersport class. Murph (Syndicate’s Michael Murphy) has known Evan and Phil from ESP for awhile and is confident they can give me the equipment I need to run up front. I want to follow in the footsteps of the last two riders that ESP worked with, Ben Thompson and Chris Peris. After racing for ESP, those guys are both on factory supported teams now, and that is where I want to be.” About Josh Day Josh Day was born September 8, 1989 in Orlando, Florida.
