Lap records have been tumbling at the reconfigured Streets of Willow Springs and Washington racer, Peter Lenz, adds his name to that list. Lenz cracked the old 125cc time of 1:19:46 set by Red Bull Rookie rider Austin DeHaven in November ’08. Lenz, under sunny skies and slightly windy conditions, ran a 1:19:29, establishing the new course configuration’s yardstick for the class. Lenz now has two track records to his credit on 125s, this and Firebird Raceway in Phoenix which will host a USGPRU series event in two weeks. The Monday event was the California Superbike School’s R.A.C.E. (Race And Competition Experience) training program where one 8-lap race event is held at the end of each of the two days. Times were recorded on the school’s dbcom transponder timing system.
