Roadracing World has partnered with AMA Pro to present the Young Gun of Year Award to the top rider under age 19 in AMA Pro. In the spirit of this award, Roadracing World is featuring a series of Young Gun profiles. These riders were also featured in the March 2013 Issue of Roadracing World. Today’s featured rider is Hayden Gillim. Gillim ran the 2013 AMA Pro SuperSport season riding for his own family-backed program–Team 95–and working with mechanic, engine builder and crew chief Rick Matheny. Gillim finished a close second in AMA Pro SuperSport East point standings. With the SuperSport season officially ending at New Jersey Motorsports Park September 13-15, AMA Pro Racing decided to invite selected SuperSport front-runners to compete in the Daytona SportBike finale scheduled for this coming weekend, September 27-29, at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Gillim’s late-season run at the SuperSport East title was impressive enough that Meen Motorsports signed him to run one of its bikes in the Daytona SportBike finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. And Gillim had no trouble getting approved by AMA Pro officials. At Laguna Seca this weekend Gillim will be working with crew chief John Heinen under the Meen Motorsports awning, and will be running with additional sponsorship from Meen Motorsports, Yamaha, Yamalube and Yamaha Generators.
