13-year-old Nick McFadden, Vesrah Suzuki road race development rider, is headed south to race in the AMA Winter Dirt Tack National Championship series. This 5-part series will start off in Savannah, Georgia on Saturday, March 5th and end in Ocala, Florida on Wednesday, March 9th. Round 2 will be held in Daytona Beach, Florida on the short track limestone oval that sits behind Turn 2 of the Speedway. Rounds 3 and 4 will be at the Volusia County Speedway in Barberville, Florida. This versatile event will challenge riders’ skills on short tracks, half-miles and a TT course. Nick, who will open his road race season in April at the Talladega Gran Prix raceway, will be making his 7th trip to the AMA Winter Dirt Track National Championships. He will race a Suzuki RM-Z 250 prepared by Dave Burke Motorsports with Travis Smith building his engines and Chris Boone tuning his bike. Nick McFadden: “Daytona Bike Week is always a fun week for me. I enjoy being outdoors in the warm weather and racing with friends I haven’t seen since the summer. We only get to race on these tracks once a year and it really levels the playing field since most of the racers aren’t practicing or racing on these on a regular basis. I really like my Suzuki RM-Z 250 – it handles well, and since I am a smaller guy and have a lot of bike to move around, that is a big help to me, especially on the TT tracks. Travis and (Chris) Boone do a really good job on the motor and set up to help me, too. I am looking forward to the week and I finish up just in time to go over and be with the Vesrah Suzuki AMA Pro road racing team at the Speedway.” “I would like to say thank you to the Vesrah Team, Dave Burke Motorsports and all of their sponsors, plus my family, for making my trip possible. A special thank you to the NextMotoChampion group for selecting me as the 250cc Rider of the Year for 2010 – that award had a set of new Pilot leathers included in it and Josh Bennett and the Pilot team worked very hard to get my suit put together to bring to Daytona for the races. I hope to have a good week of racing and wish all the Vesrah riders a good show at Daytona.”
