Brainerd, Minn (August 12) – Zalusky Advanced Riding School and Track Days (ZARS) recently held its Shootout and Rider Challenge Championship Series at Brainerd International Raceway on the Competition Course, August 8-9.
Several top riders from the CRA, CCS and Moto America descended on the 2.5 mile track. The Shootout Series attracted several Moto America racers, including Kyle Ohnsorg and Drew Sivertsen. The series presented by BlownConcepts.com awarded over $1100 in cash prizes to the top finishers in each of the classes.
Throughout all the sprints on August 8, it was a battle from the start to the checkered flag. In GP Expert 3/4, Bell Helmet sponsored rider Shane Keaveny was victorious, as Scott Stall ride strong to finish in 2nd. In the GP Expert 1/2 class, Jon Champ added another victory.
In the Novice ranks, Martin Holte dominated the field to take the checkered flag, while Doug Evans took home another win to add to his victories in the GP 1/2 class.
ZARS continues to broaden our opportunities with the Rider Challenge for experienced Track Day riders. In the GP3 class on August 8, Patrick Wagaman had the most impressive ride of the season to take the win.
On August 9, racing intensified, as Moto America racer, Kyle Ohnsorg joined the grid. Ohnsorg is just returning to the track after a broken leg injury. He rode strong to defeat Scott Stall for the victory in GP 3/4 Expert. In the GP 1/2 Expert class, Jon Champ dominated once again to take the win with Moto America racer Drew Sivertsen in 2nd.
In the Novice grids, Joseph Mastain lead the field to another win to continue his points lead for GP3/4. In GP 1/2, Chris Mattson took the win after a close battle with Doug Evans who landed in 2nd.
In the Rider Challenge, Dave Meech rode strong in the wet for the win with Andrew Tolzmann in 2nd after a long battle with Robert Wagman who finished 3rd.
ZARS returns to Brainerd International Raceway, Labor Day, September 7 for the season finale.
