Orange, Calif — When Round 7 of the Pro Honda Oils Supersport Series presented by Shoei takes place at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif., July 18-20, the Parts Unlimited Pro Honda Erion Racing team will be looking to score a home run. Boasting the talents of two-wheeled aces Jake Zemke and Josh Hayes, Erion Racing is without a doubt one of the most successful teams in road racing today. Currently sitting in second place, just three points out of the lead is California native Jake Zemke. Born in San Francisco and now a resident of Paso Robles, Zemke is looking to move into first place this weekend. “Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is my home track and definitely holds a special place in my heart,” says Zemke who leads the AMA Formula Extreme Series by a 32 point margin. “I have done well at Laguna before and hopefully, this weekend will mark another win. This is one of the few tracks where the fans are close and you can actually hear them cheering. It is also the one race where all my friends and family show up and that adds a lot of extra incentive to do well. Winning is always the best, but having your friends and family around when you take the Checkered makes it that much more special. I actually love the whole area and, in fact, it is very sentimental to me as I won my very first race at the Monterey Fairgrounds back in 1985. I was competing in dirt track back then and I will never forget that first victory. It was really awesome.” “Next to Daytona, this is the second most prestigious race in the series to win,” explains team owner Kevin Erion. “Winning at this event is a big feather in a team’s cap. Running in conjunction with the world renown USGP means the whole world is looking and the track is packed with fans. We have done well here in the past and I am confident we can do so again.” Also looking to score is John Hayes. Currently sitting in fifth, 39 points away from first, this top racer is definitely ready for a win. A native of Gulfport, Mississippi, this young man definitely is well-versed in what it takes to win. “My luck at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca hasn’t been too good lately,” he says shaking his head. “The last two times I led each race but didn’t finish either so I am a little anxious this time out. It is tough track but I think I have put all the pieces together for this weekend and we should be good to go.” Two extremely determined riders, two expertly well-prepared Honda motorcycles and one of the best crews in the industry..that is what the Parts Unlimited Pro Honda Erion Racing team is all about — and that is what will drive them to Victory Lane this coming weekend.
