FIVE REASONS TO ATTEND THE TRIUMPH SUPERBIKE CLASSIC AT BARBER MOTORSPORTS PARK Birmingham, AL — There are plenty of reasons to attend the Triumph Superbike Classic at Barber Motorsports Park June 22-24. Here are just a few: 1. See America’s top national roadracing championship in action. The top Superbike competitors in the country will race on the tough 2:38-mile Barber Motorsports Park circuit and fans will get to see top riders like Josh Hayes, Blake Young, Roger Hayden, Ben Bostrom, Danny Eslick, Josh Herrin, Geoff May, Chris Fillmore, and Larry Pegram compete on high-level Yamaha, Suzuki, BMW, and KTM machines in the premier National Guard Superbike class. The 2012 championship has been a landmark year for the series, with Hayes and Young battling for wins each time out. So far, no man has been able to get the upper hand and they have split the victories each time. The Superbike class will race twice, once on Saturday and once on Sunday. The races often have a very different complexion, making for two distinct contests. 2. Great sightlines at Barber Motorsports Park. There are some fantastic tracks in the U.S., but Barber Motorsports Park was designed for the fans. The park atmosphere makes for a super day of relaxation in a natural setting with family and friends, plus offers a great view of the on-track action. Some locations offer a view of approximately 80 percent of the track from one vantage point. At 740 acres, Barber Motorsports Park has a lot to see, including a collection of unique sculptures around the complex. 3. Fierce and furious support class action. With seven total races during the Triumph Superbike Classic, fan will be able to get their fix of two-wheeled competition. In Daytona SportBike, the battles are tight and contested with the top 20 riders all capable of earning top-five finishes in the middleweight class Battle Royale. The races are a fantastic mix of youth and more experienced pilots. Veteran riders like Jason DiSalvo and Martin Cardenas have won this year, as has upstart young racer Joey Pascarella who won this year’s Daytona 200. The AMA Pro Motorcycle Superstore SuperSport class and the AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Series will also compete, making it a weekend with seven different races. 4. The up-close view. Chances are, you can’t stand on the sidelines or walk the field before Auburn or Alabama bowl games but you can stroll through the pits at an AMA Pro Road Race and walk the circuit with some of the top riders. There are two separate chances for fans to get these unique insights. AMA Pro Racing holds a Fan Walk on Saturday and Sunday. Fans can walk the pits, get autographs from riders, and check out the machines up close each day. Fans will need to have a paddock access upgrade to participate in the Fan Walk. Another special Barber Motorsports Park event that has become a welcome tradition is the Friday afternoon track walk with the riders and it’s free for all Friday ticket holders. Some of the top riders in the series will take fans on a tour of the track, sharing their knowledge of what it takes to go fast around Barber Motorsports Park. Triumph riders Jason DiSalvo and Dustin Dominguez are scheduled to appear, as are National Guard Suzuki ace Roger Hayden and Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki’s Jake Lewis and Cory West. More riders usually join on an unscheduled basis. Last year, more than a dozen riders walked the track with fans, including two-time champ Josh Hayes. A portion of the Friday ticket sales will go to the Roadracing World Action Fund, the organization that provides air barriers that make the racing safer for competitors. 5. The Barber Vintage Motorsport Museum. While you’ll want to relax in the tranquil setting and catch every bit of the on-track action you can, the Barber Vintage Motorsport Museum is a can’t-miss. A thousand classic and modern bikes representing the entire history of motorcycles are on display in the 144,000 square foot facility. It’s the largest private collection of vintage motorcycles in the world, with over 200 manufacturers represented. Race fans will appreciate the large number of competition machines, from turn-of-the-century board track racers to 1960s Grand Prix bikes. Tickets for the Triumph Superbike Classic start at just $15 and can be purchased at www.barbermotorsports.com. Kids 15 and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult. The Motorcycle Super Saver package is available until June 21st with access to three motorcycle events at Barber Motorsports Park in 2012, along with complimentary motorcycle parade laps during the Triumph Superbike Classic.
